A Black History Month Event Honoring the Vision of the Black Panther Party

In honor of Black History Month, Vanport Mosaic presents “All Power to the People: The Legacy of the 10-Point Platform,” a memory activism event exploring the revolutionary vision of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.  As the first event in Vanport Mosaic’s year-long 10th-anniversary celebration, it highlights the enduring relevance of the Panthers’ 1966 manifesto for justice and equality. 

Join us on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Historic Alberta House for a day dedicated to exploring Point #10 of the 10-Point Platform, which demands “land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice, and peace.” 

We are honored to welcome back Mr. Kent Ford, founding member of Portland’s Black Panther Party chapter. He will guide us through a day of engaging discussions with historians, activists, and educators, provide historical analysis and personal memories, and share inspiring examples of community activism, both past and present.  Together we will examine the Party’s enduring impact on grassroots coalition building, survival programs, and systemic change.

The day will conclude with a Black and Indigenous Solidarity Dinner, a gathering designed specifically for Black and Indigenous guests to explore themes of land, food, and empowerment.
